DUBAI: The United Arab Emirates will launch the primary part of its nationwide passenger railway community in 2026, connecting 11 cities and areas throughout the nation.

The community will hyperlink main city centres equivalent to Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and Fujairah, whereas additionally extending rail companies to extra distant areas, notably in Abu Dhabi’s western Al Dhafra area and components of Sharjah.

A number of new stations will likely be positioned in Al Dhafra, Abu Dhabi emirate, an enormous desert and coastal area west of the capital.

These embrace Al Sila’, close to the Saudi border round 450 km from Dubai; Al Dhannah and Al Mirfa, coastal cities about 370-400 km west of Dubai; Madinat Zayed, the executive centre of Al Dhafra round 235 km from Dubai; and Mezaira’a, close to the Liwa Oasis on the sting of the Empty Quarter desert, roughly 340 km from Dubai.

Within the Sharjah emirate, stations will likely be developed in Al Faya, an inland desert space round 150–180 km from Dubai and Al Dhaid, a farming and oasis city about 140 km east of Dubai.

Etihad Rail stated the trains will supply a contemporary journey expertise with Wi-Fi, energy retailers and seating for as much as 400 passengers per practice, offering a sooner and congestion-free different to street journey.

Officers stated the undertaking will assist financial progress, increase home tourism and strengthen connectivity between the UAE’s emirates.

The passenger community builds on the UAE’s freight rail system, which has been operational since 2023.
