Saudi Arabia Railways seeks bids for 10 new passenger trains

Saudi Arabia Railways (SAR) has issued tenders for the design and manufacturing of 10 new passenger trains for its Northern Community, as a part of its efforts to develop the transport system and improve the effectivity of passenger rail providers throughout the dominion.

This comes in keeping with the targets of the Nationwide Transport and Logistics Technique and the aspirations of Saudi Imaginative and prescient 2030.

The brand new trains will function on the Northern Community, which extends roughly 2,700km linking a number of main cities together with Riyadh, Al Majmaah, Qassim, Hail, Al Jouf and Al Qurayyat, with plans to develop the community within the coming years by the addition of latest passenger stations, together with Al Zulfi.

This tender comes as a part of SAR’s phased and ongoing strategy to modernising and increasing its passenger practice fleet throughout its numerous networks.

The challenge scope consists of the design, manufacturing, and provide of the brand new passenger trains, along with offering fleet upkeep providers, contributing to enhanced operational readiness and long-term asset sustainability. The deadline for submitting the bids has been set at Might 11.

SAR CEO Dr Bashar Al Malik stated increasing the passenger practice fleet represents a strategic goal and a key step inside the firm’s plans to additional develop passenger transport providers.

“The entry of the brand new trains into service will assist meet the rising demand for passenger journeys by growing the operational capability of the Northern Community to just about thrice its present degree, elevating complete seating capability to greater than 2.4 million seats yearly, and enhancing SAR’s capability to help the continued development of intercity passenger transport,” he acknowledged.
