Riyadh Metro to Commence Service in Saudi Arabia

The Riyadh Metro is poised to transform public transportation, easing congestion, and improving air quality

Alstom has celebrated the launch of the Riyadh Metro community in Saudi Arabia.

This mission aligns with Saudi Arabia’s Imaginative and prescient 2030, aiming to boost city mobility, cut back congestion, and enhance air high quality within the capital metropolis.

The 176-kilometre community, developed by the Royal Fee for Riyadh Metropolis (RCRC), includes six strains, 85 stations, and 7 depots, and is anticipated to serve as much as 3.6 million every day passengers upon full operation.

By decreasing reliance on personal automobiles, the Riyadh Metro is projected to chop gasoline consumption by roughly 1 million gallons yearly and reduce greenhouse fuel emissions, together with 12.5 million tons of CO2, 3,990 tons of NOx, and 217 tons of particulate matter.

Alstom has equipped superior rolling inventory for the community, together with:

47 Innovia metro trains for the Orange Line (Line 3)
69 Metropolis trains for the Yellow, Inexperienced, and Purple Strains (Strains 4, 5, and 6)

These automobiles, designed for Riyadh’s distinctive wants, characteristic Alstom’s Urbalis CBTC signalling system for environment friendly operations and HESOP regenerative braking expertise, which recovers braking power to decrease energy consumption and operational prices.

The metro will start operations in levels:

1 December 2024: Yellow (Line 4) and Purple (Line 6) Strains
15 December 2024: Inexperienced (Line 5) Line
5 January 2025: Orange (Line 3) Line.

Alstom may also present upkeep for the Orange, Yellow, Inexperienced, and Purple strains, guaranteeing the long-term reliability of trains, tracks, signalling programs, communication networks, and energy provide.

The Riyadh Metro represents Alstom’s a centesimal metro line in industrial service and its most intensive turnkey city metro mission up to now.
