Bahrain detains 2 for offensive religious posts and inciting sedition - News

Two people have been arrested for circulating religiously offensive social media posts, Bahraini authorities mentioned. The anti-cyber crimes directorate summoned and detained the 2 people, aged 24 and 27.

Each had been discovered to be insulting figures revered by a selected sect and inciting sedition and sectarianism in a fashion that contravenes rules of civil peace and social stability.

The anti-cyber crimes directorate mentioned the required authorized proceedings are being taken to refer the case to the Public Prosecution.

Authorities urge residents to report any cyber crime to the Common Directorate of Anti-Corruption and Financial and Digital Safety on the Ministry of Inside (MOI) by calling 992 or fill the web report type.
