New rail freight option gives UAE an overland edge

A subsidiary of Abu Dhabi ports and associated infrastructure developer, AD Ports Group, has introduced the launch of a rail logistics answer for the Center East.

This was marked by the introduction of its first rail shuttle service by Noatum Logistics between Khalifa Port and Fujairah Terminals, AD Ports Group mentioned in an announcement.

The shuttle service, utilising the UAE’s nationwide railway, developed and operated by Etihad Rail, is meant to considerably improve the capability of the regional logistics community and provide prospects extra flexibility in transporting giant volumes of overland freight from the Persian Gulf to the Gulf of Oman.

The service will run weekly, with every prepare able to carrying as much as 156 twenty-foot TEUs or 78 FEUs in both route.

AD Ports Group managing director and CEO, Captain Mohamed Juma Al Shamisi, mentioned: “The inaugural journey of the primary business rail shuttle from Khalifa Port to Fujairah Terminals represents a serious milestone for the AD Ports Group because it fulfils our management’s imaginative and prescient of strengthening connectivity throughout the UAE and the broader Center East.

“As a key aspect of our multimodal transport community, the Nationwide Railway Community – developed and operated by Etihad Rail – not solely connects our strategic seaports and inland logistics belongings but additionally performs a vital position within the long-term financial growth of each our nation and the area.”

Noatum Logistics MD for the Center East Area, Qusai Kankazar, added: “We’re agency believers within the transformative potential of rail to supply our prospects a transport various that meets their key priorities, together with price effectivity, scalability, reliability, and environmental sustainability.
