Turkish agency Proyapı Mühendislik will assist planning and design of Kuwait’s 111km part of the GCC community.

Kuwait’s minister of public works, Noura Mohammed Al Mashaan, and chairman of the board of administrators of Propyapi, Murat Koru, signed the contract.

KUWAIT’s Ministry of Public Works has signed an engineering and consultancy companies contract value Dinars 2.5m ($US 8.1m) with Turkish agency Proyapı Mühendislik to assist planning and design of its 111km part of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) railway community.

The settlement encompasses design and engineering research, soil testing, route mapping, and the preparation of tender paperwork for the development part. The brand new line will run from a brand new 200ha major station at Al-Shadadiya, Kuwait Metropolis, adjoining to the worldwide airport, to Nuwaiseeb on Kuwait’s southern border with Saudi Arabia. As soon as the design work is finalised, Kuwait will proceed with inviting bids for development contracts.

The contract was signed by Kuwait’s minister of public works, Nora Mohammed Al Mashaan, and chairman of the board of administrators of Propyapi, Murat Koru. The Turkish ambassador to Kuwait, Tubanur Sönmez, additionally attended the ceremony.

The contract award is taken into account a key step in improvement of Kuwait’s portion of the 2177km GCC community, development of which is already underway in Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Oman. The brand new community will even serve Bahrain and Qatar.

The Kuwait authorities confirmed earlier this yr that seven tenders have been issued for the mission, overlaying mission administration and management, mission implementation and mission supervision companies for the design and implementation phases, together with the institution of Kuwait Railways Firm, and development of the primary station.
