Civil works tendered for Abu Dhabi-Dubai high-speed rail

The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has tendered a contract to design and construct the civil works for a brand new 150km high-speed practice line between Abu Dhabi and Dubai.

The railway line will allow people to journey between Abu Dhabi and Dubai in half-hour, reaching speeds of as much as 350km/h.

The road is anticipated to be operational by 2030. It the primary part of a bigger railway community.

UAE’s Etihad Rail unveiled the plans final week (23 January). It would oversee the event and operation of the mission.

As reported by MEED, the railway firm is now inviting tenders for a contract to design and construct the civil works and station packages for the railway line.

The tender discover was issued on 10 January with a bid submission deadline of seven Could, MEED mentioned.

The railway line will stretch from the Al-Zahiyah space of Abu Dhabi to Al-Jaddaf in Dubai and embrace 5 stations. A complete of 31km of the route might be tunnelled.

The mission’s civil works have been cut up into two packages comprising 4 sections. The scope of those sections consists of:

Section 1A: Al-Zahiyah to Yas Island (23.5km)Section 1B: Yas Island to the border of Abu Dhabi/Dubai (64.2km)Section 1C: Abu Dhabi/Dubai border to Al-Jaddaf (52.1km)Section 1D: Abu Dhabi airport delta junction and reference to Abu Dhabi airport station (9.2km).

The rail line may have stations at Al-Zahiyah (ADT), Saadiyat Island (ADS), Yas Island (YAS), Abu Dhabi airport (AUH) and Al-Jaddaf (DJD).

The ADT, AUH and DJD stations might be underground, MEED reported.

The Center East information website has reported that preliminary website testing works have already begun.

It named the businesses concerned on this programme as Dubai-based Matcon Testing Laboratory and Abu Dhabi’s Engineering & Analysis Worldwide.

They’re conducting drilling checks to determine the bottom circumstances in areas by means of which the high-speed railway line will move.

Spanish engineering companies Sener and Ineco had been appointed because the mission’s engineering consultants.

One other main transport infrastructure mission at the moment underway within the UAE is the Dubai Metro Blue Line mission.

The brand new metro line will run underground for 15.5km and above floor for 14.5km. It would join Dubai Worldwide Airport and 9 key areas alongside the road.

The mission was given the go-ahead by vice chairman and prime minister of UAE and ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum in November 2024.

Dubai’s Roads & Transport Authority final month introduced that it had awarded the contract for the Dubai Metro Blue Line mission to a consortium of three main Turkish and Chinese language firms: civil works contractors Mapa and Limak with railway programs provider CRRC.

Building on the Metro Blue Line is because of start in April 2025, with the road set to open in September 2029.
