Kenya’s President William Ruto has introduced plans for a strategic partnership with the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to assist the extension of the Normal Gauge Railway (SGR) into Uganda.

The Naivasha-Malaba part in Kenya, estimated to price $5.3 billion (Sh720 billion), is anticipated to spice up regional connectivity, improve commerce, and considerably scale back transportation prices.

“We’re exploring a partnership settlement with the United Arab Emirates to increase the Normal Gauge Railway to attach Kenya, Uganda, and South Sudan,” mentioned Ruto on Tuesday.

“As a part of the plan, we’ve agreed to conduct a feasibility examine over the extension of the SGR as a consequence of its capability to foster regional integration and promote commerce,” he added.

President Ruto was talking in Abu Dhabi, following talks with UAE Funding Minister Mohamed Hassan Alsuwaidi.
